Semaglutide Dosage Chart: Wegovy, Ozempic and Pill Doses From the Label
Semaglutide dosage charts from the FDA labels: Wegovy 0.25–2.4 mg (HD 7.2 mg), Ozempic 0.25–2 mg, Wegovy pill 1.5–25 mg, Ozempic tablets, and missed doses.
Written by Dr. Diana Munteanu. Updated October 22, 2026.
Semaglutide always starts at a low dose and steps up every four weeks (or every 30 days for the pills) to limit nausea. The weekly Wegovy injection goes 0.25 → 0.5 → 1 → 1.7 → 2.4 mg over 16 weeks; Ozempic goes 0.25 → 0.5 mg, then up to 1 mg and 2 mg if needed; the daily Wegovy pill goes 1.5 → 4 → 9 → 25 mg; and Ozempic tablets go 1.5 → 4 mg, then 9 mg if needed. The charts below come from the FDA-approved labels.
This guide covers brand-name, FDA-approved products only. Your prescriber decides your dose and may move more slowly. It does not cover compounded vials, which have no approved dosing; see the warning at the end.

Ozempic tablets follow the same empty-stomach rules as the Wegovy pill. The older Rybelsus strengths of 3, 7 and 14 mg are being replaced by these new strengths.
Why the Dose Goes Up Slowly
Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are most common in the first weeks and right after each increase. Stepping up gradually gives the gut time to adapt. If side effects are hard to manage, prescribers often keep you at the current dose for longer rather than pushing on. See our semaglutide side effects guide and how long semaglutide stays in your system.
A Warning About Compounded Vial Charts
Charts that convert "units" to milligrams are made for compounded vials, whose concentration varies from one pharmacy to another. FDA has linked hospitalizations to dosing errors with these products. Brand-name pens and tablets are pre-measured, so no conversion is needed. Read more in compounded semaglutide reviews and why a microdosing semaglutide chart isn't a dosing plan.
For what to expect at each step of the chart, read how long semaglutide takes to work, a week-by-week guide to appetite, blood sugar and weight changes.
One thing this chart cannot do is convert a semaglutide dose into a tirzepatide dose; there is no equivalence, and tirzepatide starts at 2.5 mg for everyone. Our guide to switching from semaglutide to tirzepatide explains how the change is actually made.
Each step up the ladder brings a short wave of side effects, and fatigue is one that people rarely expect. The causes, timeline and fixes are covered in does semaglutide make you tired; if a step knocks you flat, staying longer on the current dose is an option the label allows.
Bottom Line
Every semaglutide product starts low and climbs: Wegovy to 2.4 mg (or 7.2 mg HD) weekly by week 17, the Wegovy pill to 25 mg daily by day 91, Ozempic to 0.5–2 mg weekly, and Ozempic tablets to 4–9 mg daily. Follow your prescription, not a forum chart. For results by dose, see semaglutide for weight loss, and for pill versus injection, see oral semaglutide vs tablets vs pills.
FAQ
0.25 mg weekly for the Wegovy and Ozempic injections, and 1.5 mg daily for the Wegovy pill and Ozempic tablets.
7.2 mg weekly as Wegovy HD for weight loss, 2 mg weekly for Ozempic, 25 mg daily for the Wegovy pill and 9 mg daily for Ozempic tablets.
16 weeks; 2.4 mg starts in week 17.
Not without your prescriber. Skipping steps raises the risk of severe nausea and vomiting.
Wegovy: take it if the next dose is more than 2 days away. Ozempic: take it within 5 days. Pills: skip the missed day and continue the next morning.
